Stowhealth Nursing Team

All our Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants have years of experience and a wide variety of skills.

They all partake in annual appraisals in resuscitation, anaphylaxis, fire training and information governance, supported with regular training updates.  Various 'e' learning modules are completed, including topics such as child and adult safeguarding, infection prevention and diversity and equality. They abide to annually reviewed protocols, guidelines and patient group directions.

The well-being of our patients is their priority, ensuring they are providing the best care and treatment for patient’s individual needs.  They work as a supportive and cohesive team, offering guidance and sharing knowledge and experience. 

 

Wendy Den Bleker - Nurse Practitioner

I work as a Nurse Practitioner with a Community Matron background.  I have special interests in chronic disease management, end of life care planning, promoting independence in the home, falls reduction and co-ordinator in Admission avoidance.

I am also part of the Nurse Led Team and triage within this clinic every morning (except Monday).

 

Chris Francis - Practice Nurse

The majority of my work is within the Nurse Led Clinic, accessing patients with minor illness and injuries to the practice protocol.  I am a specialist minor illness nurse and able to prescribe.  I co-ordinate and manage the Nurse Led Clinic which comprises of a team of nurses and nurse practitioners.  Between us we have a diverse range of skills and much of our work is collaborative, with a team working approach.

I also work in the Long Term Conditions Clinic reviewing patients with a variety of conditions.  I am nurse lead for the care of patients with diabetes.   

 

Elfreda Finbow - Practice Nurse

I have been a Practice Nurse since 1999.  I am experienced in all treatment room skills, baby immunisation and general vaccinations, travel consultations, long term management conditions, women's health and cytology.  I'm family planning trained and able to fit and remove implants and presently training to fit coils.  I am also an Independent Nurse Prescriber.

 

Karyn McBride - Nurse Practitioner

I am one of the Nurse Practitioners here at Stowhealth.  I am also the Lead Respiratory Nurse who helps to manage and care for patients with a variety of respiratory diseases.  I work alongside the minor illness nurses in the Nurse Led Clinic, in which we see patients with acute illness.  I also carry out home visits for patients with an immediate need for care or chronic disease management.

Once a week I work within the LTMC Clinic and I'm also the Deputy Safeguarding Lead nurse.

 

Harriet Piper - Practice Nurse 

I work as part of the Nurse Led Clinic, assessing patients with minor illnesses and injuries.  My speciality is paediatrics and I see/assess children and babies from birth.  I am also a nurse precriber.

My work is within a team environment, who between us have a diverse range of skills.  We very much have a collatorative team work approach to our work.

 

Annie Bowen-Wright - Practice Nurse 

I have worked as a Practice Nurse since 1988 and experienced in all treatment room skills, including baby immunisations and general vaccines.

   

Anne Verney - Practice Nurse 

I have been a Practice Nurse since 2000.  I am experienced in all treatment room skills, including baby immunisations and vaccinations, Long Term Management conditions, specialising in respiratory illness-asthma and COPD.  I am also experienced in well women's health and cytology.

   

Ros Hughes - Practice Nurse 

I recently joined the team as a Practice Nurse, having worked in the district for many years as a senior member of the team.  Already experienced in many treatment room skills, I will be developing these and also learning about the Long Term Management conditions and baby immunisations.

 

Healthcare Assistants

Our HCAs are trained in a variety of roles, which includes phlebotomy (taking blood), ECG's, ear syringing, Doppler's, spirometry, removal of stitches and clips, memory clinics, chaperone, minor wounds, NHS checks and Health checks.

Jakob Lato - Paramedic

Joined the pratice in January 2018, seeing a wide range of medical conditions.  He is also the lead practitioner for home visits.

   

Duncan Saunders - Paramedic

Joined the practice in October 2019

   

James Catton - Physician Associate

Joined the pratice in July 2018.

Qualified to see a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.

James also works for the West Suffolk Hospital acute medical unit.

   

Katie Fradgley - Physician Associate

Joined the pratice in November 2019.
